Developing and implementing the Library information technology development
plan for the integrated regional university, or the tyranny of distance, information and technology.

Abstract:

The paper will address the processes, issues and staged implementation of the University of Central Queensland Library's information technology development plan. The plan aims to provide equity of electronic access to all campuses of the geographically disperse integrated regional university. (UCQ has campuses at Mackay, Rockhampton, Gladstone, Emerald and Bundaberg.) Issues addressed will include the configuration of the Library's network to meet the demands of remote campus and distance education students, meeting the needs of staff and students on campuses with minimal library collections, and the processes involved in developing the plan itself.
