Paper:
THE ELECTRONIC TUTOR: THE CWIS AS A VEHICLE FOR DELIVERING INFORMATION TO OPEN LEARNING STUDENTS.

Abstract:

In 1994, the Faculty of Humanities at Griffith University successfully applied for a DEET grant to "establish a network and data communications resource and architecture for (its) MA in Cultural Policy". The project, intended initially to assist Open Learning students undertaking the MA, aims to use the developing Griffith University Campus Wide Information System as a mechanism for delivering information to distance education students on a wider scale.

This paper will elaborate on the proposal, and outline progress made at the time of presentation. Particular attention will be paid to problems arising during the initial stages of the project, which will highlight some of the issues facing tertiary institutions concerned with using technology as a means of delivering information to distance education students.
